The project aims to enhance maritime transportation workforce development and cooperation across APEC economies, in line with the Putrajaya Vision 2040 and La Serena Roadmap for Women and Inclusive Growth. It tackles challenges in maritime education and workforce development due to emerging transportation technologies. Through workshops and data-sharing initiatives, it promotes collaboration among member economies to foster inclusive and sustainable economic development. Key activities include analyzing maritime workforce statistics, disseminating best practices on education and capacity building, and identifying strategies for addressing emerging transportation challenges. The two-day online event, scheduled for July 3 and 4, 2024, will focus on maritime workforce education and training systems, as well as women in maritime capacity building. The project encourages participation from government officials, policymakers, and stakeholders, building on existing APEC initiatives and fostering cross-fora collaboration between maritime transportation and gender equality stakeholders. |
