This project aims to increase agropastoral womens adaptation to climate change and food security in the Guéra province in Chad. The project promotes the adoption of climate-smart agricultural solutions and food systems by women working in the millet, sorghum and poultry value chains. In addition, the project strengthens the effectiveness of microfinance institutions, womens organizations and state structures in supporting green economic growth. Project activities include: (1) training women and their organisations in associative life and functional literacy; (2) providing technical assistance to microfinance institutions and government structures to develop financial services tailored to the needs of women in the millet, sorghum and poultry value chains; (3) training women in green entrepreneurship support services; and (4) promoting womens participation in agricultural and livestock sector management bodies. The project will have a direct impact on 1,500 women entrepreneurs, 30% of whom are young women under 35 and 70% over 35. A further 15,900 people will benefit from the initiative, the majority of them women. |
