Developing a massive college housing expansion plan
The nation’s largest P3 student housing project to date.
Faced with a rapidly growing student body, UC Davis brought us and our public-private partnership team in to plan, design, engineer, and manage the largest student housing development in the US. The Green at West Village will include nine four-story residential buildings, a 10,000-square-foot community center, and a maintenance center constructed using a prefabricated Prescient structural system atop of concrete slabs on grade.
The design intent and constructability of the facilities is meant to be completed in a fast track fashion between two phases. Phase One— which includes the first three residential buildings (1,005 beds), a utility building, and outdoor courtyards between the residential buildings—is complete (students moved in September 2020). Phase Two is comprised of the remaining residential units and the completed community center. The Green is a component of the largest net zero community in North America, which means the project is designed to generate as much energy as it uses within a year.
UC Davis now has much needed additional housing for students—a place for them to live, grow, and connect. |
