Given the impact of frequent climate shocks, the main objective of the HRRP project is to mitigate the damage from recurrent floods and river bank damage that put Somalis at risk of persistent livelihood and food insecurity. In addition, the initiative will substantially increase the resilience of vulnerable people to food crises by addressing the main causes of livelihood insecurity in riverine areas within Somalias granary. Rural and urban populations living along the banks of the Shabelle River who rely on riverine agricultural production and other economic services for their livelihood are the hardest hit. |
