Project Name Desalination Plant in Playas de Rosarito
Project Detail The proposed project consists of the design, construction and operation of a desalination plant with a production capacity of 2,200 liters per second (lps) or 50 million gallons per day (mgd) in Playas de Rosarito, Baja California. The project also includes the construction and operation of a 29 km (18 miles) two-pipe aqueduct with a diameter of 42 inches to convey flows from the desalination plant to the existing storage tanks “El Florido” and Tank “3” both located in Tijuana, Baja California. As well as an expansion of the capacity of the storage Tank “3” from 10,000 to 20,000 cubic meters (2,642 to 5,284 gallons) (the “Project”). The Project will be implemented under a public-private partnership, and the drinking water produced by the Project will supply a portion of the existing water demand of the municipalities of Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito, consequently substituting flows supplied from the Colorado River-Tijuana Aqueduct.
