Work Detail Nepoworx, in collaboration with Harambee Youth unemployment Accelerator, has launched a groundbreaking Youth work Readiness Programme. The focus is on solar installations and is meant to benefit 120 young South Africans. The programme targets 100 unemployed youth aged 18 to 35 who are not in employment, education, or training (NEET). Additionally, the programme reserves 20 slots for small business owners. These positions focus on electrical or renewable energy, poised for growth and able to absorb additional youth labour. Applications for the programme are being accepted through the SA Youth platform. The initiative seeks to foster innovation in the renewable energy sector while empowering young people by bridging the gap between education and employment. Work readiness expectations Through a hybrid training model, participants will receive work readiness training. This includes work exposure and practical skills, preparing them for long-term careers in the energy sector. Upon completing their training, the 100 beneficiaries will be placed in various fields for a 12-month internship to gain practical work experience. Both the unemployed youth and the small business owners will work towards a PV Green Card, confirming their qualification as solar installers.
