Project No. GOS_01_2025S Project Title Workshop on Recent Approaches to the Domestic Regulation of Services in the APEC Region Project Status Project in Implementation Recently, there have been two significant achievements regarding domestic regulation of the services: the adoption of the APEC Non-Binding Principles on Services Domestic Regulation (NBP) in 2018, and the entry into force in 2024 of the disciplines on Services Domestic Regulation (DSDR) at the WTO. This workshop aims to contribute to the sharing of good regulatory practices and practical experiences among APEC economies as they have worked to implement the NBP or DSDR. The workshop will: (1) present updates on the development of NBP and DSDR from APEC and the WTO respectively; (2) share good practices from APEC economies in implementing NBP or DSDR; (3) highlight the impact of domestic regulation on trade in services, and identify regulatory or practical issues in specific service sectors of common interest to APEC economies from the services industry; and (4) present specific issues such as the differences between NBP and DSDR, and the role of technical standards in services trade from experts. This workshop will be held on the margins of the SOM3 in August 2025 in Incheon, KOREA. |
