Project Detail |
The water and sanitation sector support programme is financed within the framework of the Development-Climate-Energy Indicative Cooperation Programme, which is designed as Luxembourgs response to support Cabo Verdes socio-economic and environmental development policies and strategies during the period 2021–2025. The program is a continuation of Luxembourgs previous interventions in Cabo Verde. It aims to contribute to universal access to drinking water of satisfactory quality, in sufficient quantity and at an affordable price, as well as to ensure quality sanitation services in Cabo Verde, particularly for the most vulnerable families. The water and sanitation sector support program is aligned with the Strategic Plan for the Water and Sanitation Sector, in accordance with Sustainable Development Goal 6, which aims to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all, based on the principle of the human right to water and sanitation enshrined by the United Nations. The program aims to contribute to this major change by developing actions aimed at increasing the sustainability of water supply and wastewater treatment services , in economic, social and environmental dimensions. The program also aims to ensure that its interventions are comprehensive and ensure equity throughout the archipelago, while contributing to greater economic, social and territorial cohesion in the country. In particular, the program participates in: increase water availability (quantity, quality, pressure); reduce the cost of water; and ensure sustainable access to sanitation services. Luxembourg Cooperation continues to strengthen the capacities of the countrys water and sanitation sector institutions, either through training or by supporting institutional, organizational and regulatory modernization. The final beneficiaries are the entire population and society of Cabo Verde, including businesses and other organizations, which will benefit from sustainable and quality water and sanitation services. |
