The Accelerating Sustainable and Clean Energy and Digital Access Transformation in Sudan (P507788) (ASCENT-Sudan or the Project) is Phase 11 of the Accelerating Sustainable and Clean Energy Access Transformation using the Multi-Phase Programmatic Approach (ASCENT MPA Program). It aims to improve energy and digital access for select communities in Sudan. The project will utilize Results Based Financing (RBF) mechanism to enable private companies to provide solar energy and digital connectivity solutions needed by farmers, agri-businesses, schools, clinics, SMEs, telecom infrastructure, and households in areas supported through the three ongoing operations in Sudan, namely the Community Resilience , Health Assistance, and Primary Education Emergency Support Projects. The project will work with the Trade and Development Bank (TDB) as a third-party recipient and implementor, together with its wholly owned subsidiary the Trade and Development Fund (TDF). Under ASCENT MPA’s Phase 6 Regional Energy Access Platform, the TDF has established a regional Results based financing mechanism to support FCV countries, innovation, and frontier markets, which will also be utilized to implement ASCENT-Sudan.
