Project No. EC_03_2025S Project Title Addressing the Impact of Barriers to Full and Quality Engagement in the Financial System on Womens Financial Well-Being: Evidence-Based Case Studies that go beyond Access Project Status Project in Implementation Across economies, women face greater barriers full and quality engagement in the financial system and report lower levels of financial literacy and financial well-being. This project seeks to explore barriers women in APEC economies face that go beyond access to financial products and services—e.g., lower financial confidence that acts as a barrier to full engagement, offers of products that are poorly suited to their needs—as well as evidence-based interventions, experiments, and policies that have been undertaken to help close any existing gaps. This project summary report will include a summary of the Policy Dialogue Panel that was held during the first EC meeting on March 4, 2025. This will be supplemented by any supporting input provided by the panelists from the Policy Dialogue Panel, as well as APEC economies’ respective experiences and knowledge of: 1) evidence-based research and case studies to addressing barriers to full and quality engagement; 2) the use of behavioural insights to strengthen financial literacy/knowledge, skills, confidence and behaviours that lead to improved financial well-being and resilience; and 3) APEC economies’ policies to advance women’s full and quality engagement in the financial system, especially in the digital space. |
