The scope of the Project is the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of a 1.2 km bridge infrastructure between Boracay Island and Caticlan, Malay to facilitate the following activities: a) Provision and operation of a limited-access toll-bridge system; and b) Carriage of pedestrian lanes, bikeways, power, telecommunication, water supply, sewerage, utility lines and public land transportation services The Proposed bridge will be a two-way two-lane bridge (1x1, 1 lane in each direction) with provision for a bike lane and sidewalk on each side. A median strip to separate opposing traffic will be provided. The initial concept design assumes a 14.5 m bridge from edge to edge. Project Objectives The Project aims to achieve the following: - Provide an all-weather, safe, and efficient access to Boracay Island from Caticlan and vice versa. - Address the increasing solid and liquid waste management and disposal issues of the Island through reliable access and provisions for disposal. - Improve response times during disasters and medical emergencies - Support the steady growth of the Island’s economy, which is primarily fueled by its tourism sector. |
