Palau has approximately 96% of its population living on the islands of Koror and Babeldaob, but because there is only one power line on the islands, if an accident occurs on one of the lines, power outages will continue on the entire line until the accident is removed. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure a stable supply of electricity by adding and upgrading transmission and substation facilities. This project aims to improve the stability of power supply and promote the introduction of renewable energy on both islands by upgrading the power transmission system on both islands. Through these efforts, the project aims to improve the living environment of Palauan residents and promote measures to address Climate Change · environmental issues and Disaster Risk Reduction through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. (1) Purpose of the Project: This project aims to improve the stability of electricity supply and promote the introduction of renewable energy in Koror Island and Babeldaob Island by establishing a power transmission system on both islands, thereby contributing to improving the living environment of Palau residents and addressing Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction environmental issues through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. (2) Project Contents (1) Description of facilities, equipment, etc.: Construction of new transmission and distribution lines (two lines between Malakal Power Station and Airai Substation, and approximately 35 km between Koksai Substation and Airai Substation (via Esar)), reinforcement of Malakal Substation and Airai Substation (transformers, switchgear sets, etc.), and buildings for switchgear for Malakal Substation, Airai Substation and Koksai Substation Buildings for switchgear, etc. at Malakal Substation, Airai Substation, and Koksai Substation (2) Consulting services/soft components include: detailed design, bidding assistance, procurement and construction supervision.
