Democratic Republic of the Congo In the case of the Kinshasa area, the national average electrification rate is only 20%, due to rapid population growth in Kinshasa and underdevelopment caused by long-standing political instability and past civil wars. Even in electrified areas, planned power outages are frequent, and power supply is limited due to capacity shortages and aging of substation, transmission, and distribution facilities. Therefore, in addition to increasing power generation capacity, it is necessary to strengthen and upgrade existing substation, transmission, and distribution facilities in order to ensure a stable supply of electricity. This project aims to improve the power supply capacity, reliability, and stability in the Kinshasa Economic Development Zone by adding medium- and low-voltage substations and upgrading the distribution network at two key substations in the zone to meet the rapidly increasing power demand. Purpose of the Project This project will contribute to economic development in the Mon Amber area, an economic development area in Kinshasa City, by improving the existing Huna and Liminga substations to stabilize the power supply in the area, thereby revitalizing economic activities and improving the living environment of the residents. Project Details (a) Description of facilities, equipment, etc: (100MVA transformers (220kV/20kV), 220kV switchgear, 20kV switchgear, SCADA (remote monitoring and control equipment)), and buildings for 20kV switchgear at Huna and Liminga substations. (b) Description of soft components: Soft components related to the transfer of power technology by the Consultant will not be included in the Project. The equipment and facilities to be provided are the same as the existing ones, and the technology transfer for operation and maintenance of these facilities will be conducted by the manufacturers engineers through initial operation and operation guidance. |
