As a landlocked country, Burkina Faso relies on road transport for most of its logistics to support imports and exports. However, while road transport volumes have been increasing, the road network has not been properly maintained, and most of the road network is in a poor condition, causing significant road traffic problems in various regions. The countrys road network also plays an important role as a logistics node connecting the coastal countries Cote dIvoire, Ghana, Togo, and Benin in the south with the landlocked countries of Niger and Mali in the north, and the development of an international corridor connecting the coastal countries is one of the top development priorities in the surrounding area. This project aims not only to respond to the increasing traffic demand across the country by improving road maintenance equipment, but also to improve safe and efficient logistics by strengthening the maintenance management system of the countrys road network, which is becoming increasingly important as a logistics node for West African countries. Objective of the Project This project aims to improve the maintenance and management system of roads in Ouagadougou, the capital of the country, and throughout the country by providing road maintenance and management equipment to the Directorate General of Road Maintenance, Ministry of Infrastructure Development, thereby contributing to the improvement of traffic and efficient logistics in the country.
