Mauritius is an island nation where tourism and Fisheries industry are the main industries. However, due to the impact of the 2020 ship stranding and heavy oil spill, Fisheries resource management and improving the livelihoods of fishermen/residents in the sea area is a key issue. This project will present effective options for improving livelihoods and diversifying sustainable Fisheries resource use in coastal communities affected by ship strandings in southeast Mauritius. In addition, a comprehensive livelihood improvement plan will be developed in each of the two southeastern prefectures and four villages in both prefectures to restore and improve the livelihoods of southeastern coastal communities through sustainable use of Fisheries resources by strengthening Fisheries resource management in coral reefs and taking into account sustainable use of Fisheries resources in coastal areas. [Project Purpose] Fisheries Comprehensive livelihood improvement plans that take into account sustainable use of resources in coastal areas will be developed in the two southeastern provinces and in the administrative areas of each of the four villages in both provinces. |
