The development objectives of the Energy Reliability, Efficiency, and Governance Improvement Program for Tunisia are to scale-up renewable energy, improve electricity supply reliability, and enhance Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) financial and operational performance and sector governance. The Government program aims to comprehensively address sectoral reforms by focusing on financial, technical, commercial, and governance improvements. The investments that form part of the program cover a wide range of areas, including the production, transmission, and distribution of electricity and natural gas. The program also includes operations and maintenance (O&M) costs necessary to meet growing demand, ensure reliability of the energy network, and modernize dispatch systems. Additionally, the program includes costs related to enhancing commercial and financial management and improving sector governance. The main pillars of the Government program are: Pillar 1: STEG financial viability; Pillar 2: improvement of technical and commercial performances; and Pillar 3: strengthening of STEG and electricity sector governance and increasing transparency. The Program Development Objectives (PDO) are to scale-up renewable energy, improve electricity supply reliability, and enhance STEG financial and operational performance and sector governance. |
