Project Name Preserving Soil Fertility through Vermi Composting and Mixed Cropping to Improve Livelihood of Ginger Cultivators
Project Detail 1) Vermi composting and other organic methods will enhance soil fertility, ecosystem, and plant growth, particularly for fruit trees. 2) Soil erosion is mostly caused by ginger cultivation, therefore, retainment of soil fertility will be improved and it can also help the farmers in the long run. Training the farmers is one sustainable method to ensure conserve soil nourishment. 3) Calculation of biodiversity index in the village reserved forests can help attain knowledge on the floral species that can be potentially conserved in the mentioned area. Key Results from activities: Sensitisation of mixed cropping, attainment of schemes, linking the VOs to the market, testing of soil for all households and village reserved forests along with documentation of flora species through calculation of biodiversity index to potentially preserve the available species and plantation of fruit trees and cucumbers for every household will be attained
