Monduli Women Action Trend (MOWAT) whose vision and mission is to enhance bettter life and livelihood for all women, girls and children through education, training, sensitization, advocacy, empowerment, mobilization and safety assurance. This propose project is intended to improve community livelihoods of Monduli Distrct through use of Climate Smart Agricultural Technologies, biodiverty conservation and promoting climate change mitigation. Project objectives - To enable the rural communities adopt and practice Climate Smart Agricultre practices - To enhance agriculture production through improved yield and access to food - To reduce the negative environmental impacts and generating beneficial ecosystem services under a changing climate. Project Activities: 1. Construct two shallow wells to tapping the underground water in Lashaine Village for domestic and irrigation activities 2. Build capacity of communitiies on climate smart agricultural technologieis 3. Establish twp treenurseries for environmentally-friends tree that will be planted to conserve the environment. 4. Form four groups of women and youth as well as other vulnerable groups for income generating activities Monduli District is vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Unfortunately. so far fewer efforts have been given to adapt to and mitigate the adverse impacts that emanate from climate change. More that 90% of the population in the district and partciularly in Lashaine Village depends on climate sensitive agricultural sector for their livelihoood activities. In Addition, the proposed project seeks to support communities at the local level by building capacities in addressing climate change challenges through a wide adoption of climate change adaptation and mitigation alternatives. The project is anticipated to builld and strengthen the communities adaption acapacity and enhance their resiliency to the anticipatd impacts of climate change at the same time improving agricultural productivity in the village. |
