Years of conflict and crisis continue to erode people’s livelihoods and increase poverty and vulnerability in Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region. The COVID-19 pandemic, the fall in the oil prices, and the ensuing economic downturn, is expected to further exacerbate poverty and vulnerability. The project will pilot a cash transfer program that provides crucial income support to 3,200 poor and vulnerable households (around 16,000 individuals). The project will also support the development of systems required to ensure successful, effective and efficient implementation of the pilot. |
