Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme-Green Recovery and Empowerment with Energy in Nepal. The government of Nepal seeks to provide reliable, affordable energy to support the economic growth of the country. However, much of Nepal’s renewable energy resources remain untapped and the country still suffers from an energy deficit. Almost two milllion people do not have access to modern energy services. Furthermore, the country does not use its available energy resources efficiently. Thus, Nepal remains highly dependent on imports of coal and fossil fuels which increases its national trade deficit and greenhouse gas emissions. Objective Regulatory, institutional and private-sector conditions in Nepal are enhanced in order to promote and implement renewable energies and energy efficiency. |
