The project consists of an EIB co-investment programme to finance energy efficiency projects carried out by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the EU. More specifically, the EIB will co-invest into individual projects alongside funds in which the EIB Group is already an investor or has an established track record. Objectives The main purpose of the EIB co-investment contribution is to address any funding gap arising when the financing needs of EU-based projects, identified by a fund manager, exceed the maximum investment amount a fund can allocate to a single project—especially in the case of larger projects targeted by investment funds.
