| Project Detail |
Pakistan is prone to floods, flash floods, and landslides caused by heavy rains due to the 8,000-meter mountains in the north and the Indus River running through the center of the country. In order to mitigate the damage, there is a strong need to improve the observation capacity of the Pakistan Meteorological Department and to more promptly forecast the dangers of natural disasters and deliver warnings to the right places at the right time. Currently, the meteorological radar is being developed by Japans Grants, but there are areas in the central and southern regions of the country that are outside the radars observation range. This cooperation will improve the meteorological observation capability of the Pakistan Meteorological Department by installing a new weather radar system in the city of Sakkal, Sindh, Pakistan, thereby contributing to the mitigation of damage caused by natural disasters such as floods and mudslides in the country, securing Human security and improving social infrastructure. |
