Project Detail |
Research has indicated that the participation of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in international standards development can have a positive impact on exports and is associated with engaging more SMEs in international trade. However, MSMEs can be uniquely impacted by barriers to access and participation in international standards development. Through a survey, policy dialogue, and summary report, this project will explore the participation of MSMEs in international standards development, including current challenges, best practices to facilitate and support MSME participation, and case studies. The policy dialogue is planned for SOM1 in 2025. In addition to APEC economies, international standards development organizations (e.g., ISO, IEC), standardizing bodies, and representatives of MSMEs will have opportunities to participate in this project. |
