Project Detail Cost-effective carbon-free hydrogen on demand Supported by the European Innovation Council, the South Beach project will assist deep tech start-up SAKOWIN in developing and promoting a new technology for producing green hydrogen. The technology uses five times less electricity than electrolysis to produce the same quantity of hydrogen at a competitive cost. The equipment is compact, modular and stackable. What is more, it can be integrated into existing gas infrastructures, for on-site or on-demand production, with a capacity to produce between 200kg and several tons of hydrogen per day. Solid carbon co-production and the use of biomethane create a model of energy efficiency, circularity and sustainability. The new technology will constitute a significant breakthrough in the energy transition. With a decentralised and scalable solution that produces carbon-free H2 on demand at a cost that is competitive with grey H2, SAKOWIN is at the forefront of the energy transition. SAKOWIN produces equipment (modules) that, using biomethane or NG as feedstock, produces H2 and solid carbon — both industrially valuable products. A big step forward from current and emerging solutions, our proprietary technology is distinguished by its competitive cost (1.5€/Kg H2 2025) —due to 5x less electrical consumption than water electrolysis— and by its CO2-free process, unlike steam reforming technology. Our technology brick will be installed where H2 is needed (fits into existing gas infrastructures), saving in storage or transport. Our focus is on equipment sales and licensing. We foresee revenues of €75M in 2030. With 276 modules in total delivered by 2030, by that year we envision SAKOWIN as a referent within the companies offering technologies to produce sustainable CO2-free H2.
