PNR 54839
Project Name Development of alternative methods to expand the reach of the entire global supply chain in the Americas, promoting food safety.
Project Detail IICA plans to research the effectiveness of leveraging the wide availability of mobile telephones throughout the Americas to deliver web- and application-based training materials that incorporate requisite training per the curriculum. In the same way, IICA plans to use these same platforms to provide easy links to relevant portions of the rule and other important documents so that the user can refresh their knowledge as needed. General objective: To develop alternative technologies and methods to greatly increase the availability of high-quality training opportunities using existing curriculum for the development of other training materials if needed such as low literacy material, in support of the Produce Safety Rule (PSR). Specific objectives: Design and conduct controlled experiments to test the efficacy of alternative training materials against in-person training techniques Refine alternative training materials, package them into new delivery methods, and test and validate both the materials and delivery approaches through pilot projects. Design and conduct household surveys to measure the short, medium, and long term impact of different training vehicles and compare the results.
