Anarchist periodicals: two open-access databases on translated texts, translators and publishers
Anarchy is a philosophy centred on the ideas of freedom, equality and mutual aid. At the turn of the 20th century, anarchist periodicals published in the Atlantic world frequently included literary texts in translation, providing readers an uncommon and often illicit experience of world literature. However, the literary translations and the editors and translators involved in their circulation have been largely ignored by those studying anarchy, literature and translation. With a focus on women and their role in thriving translation flows, the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions ARGOT project will elucidate the contribution of anarchist periodicals to world literature. Project work will shift our understanding of anarchist periodicals in the circulation of world literature and shed light on exciting new connections. |
