The project intends to promote inclusive and sustainable integral rural development in Cape Verde, overcoming the main problems of the country, linked above all to the effects of climate change. The first objective is therefore to ensure that producers and cooperatives in fruit and vegetable and dairy value chains are more organized, more inclusive for women and young people, more resilient to the effects of climate change in the islands of Santiago and Fogo a Cape Verde. Producers and producers will be involved in processes of analysis, identification and solution proposals for a better efficiency and effectiveness of the fruit and vegetable and dairy supply chains. Aspects of adaptation to climate change, as well as aspects relating to social organization will be taken into consideration as they are identified with one of the main causes of very low productivity. The result is an articulation into 4 results: the first linked to value chains, the second to mitigation and adaptation measures to climate change, the third to the modification and experimentation of innovative and sustainable production techniques and the fourth linked to organizational and associations of producers associations and agricultural cooperatives. Beneficiaries, public and private subjects will be called to dialogue and find together practicable solutions suitable for the context, where Coopermondo and COSPE will propose good practices tested and known both in Italy and in other parts of the world. The second objective is to work on the more social aspects and with the most vulnerable categories, women and young people. Women and young people from Fogo and Santiago are expected to find new spaces for job inclusion in fruit, vegetable and dairy value chains. To achieve this goal, 3 results are needed: on the one hand, it is necessary to intervene on innovations and new job offers, including private ones, in the value chain, to which young people and women can have access. Secondly, dynamics of gender-based and family violence or clichés must be eradicated, according to which some jobs, for example, are only suitable for women or men.
