The development objective of the Caribbean Regional Communications Infrastructure Program Project is to increase access to regional broadband networks and advance the development of an Information Technology and Information Technology-Enabled Services (IT and ITES) industry in Nicaragua and the Caribbean region. This project has three components. 1) The first component, Regional Connectivity Infrastructure, will fill key gaps in broadband connectivity on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, so as to contribute to improved regional telecommunications linkages. 2) The second component, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Enabled Innovation, aims to boost human capacity and business development under a regionally harmonized framework and approach, so as to generate employment and position the region and Nicaragua in particular, as a destination of choice for IT and ITES businesses. It has three subcomponents as follows: (i) Enabling Environment Program; (ii) IT and ITES Skills Development and Certification Program; and (iii) ICT Innovation Ecosystem. 3) The third component, Project Implementation Support, aims to provide resources for Project implementation through a Project Coordination Unit (PCU). |
