Project Detail About the project The plant is located in the north of Doha in the Umm Salal area and serves the areas of Al Gharafa to Umm Salal Ali, Al Khaisa, Khraitiyat, Dahil, Al Dafna, Pearl and Lusail communities in the east. The plant uses advanced wastewater treatment technologies from the main pumping station in North Doha and produces high-quality processing water to meet international standards for irrigation of green areas and public areas. Benefits of the project The wastewater treatment plant in North Doha is located in Umm Salal area, 25 km north of Doha. It serves the regions (from Gharafa to Umm Salal Ali, Al Khaisa, Khraitiyat, Dahil, Al Dafna, Pearl and Lusail in the East). The plant uses advanced wastewater treatment technologies from the North Doha area and produces high quality water treatment that meets international standards for irrigation of green areas and public areas. The first phase of the treatment plant is designed with a capacity of 244,000 cubic meters per day and is expected to serve more than 900,000 people by 2020. Advanced bioremediation processes are used in addition to ultrafiltration membrane filtration technology, which separates large molecules and small grains from water. The treatment plant uses Ultra-violet sterilization technology, The project includes the construction of a thermal drying plant within the treatment plant in North Doha to treat the sludge, the solid materials collected from the wastewater treatment process, which were collected during the treatment process and transferred to solid pellets to be disposed of in a safe manner in accordance with international standards. It is the first treatment plant in Qatar to have an integrated system for eliminating odors and reducing their impact on the surrounding environment. As part of this project, Ashghal is implementing the first of its kind in the State of Qatar by planting up to 95,000 trees on an area of ??approximately 12 square kilometers within the buffer zone surrounding the plant. From various parts of the world, in addition to planting plants and shrubs and creating an industrial lake. The station was completed in 2015 and entered into operation in July 2017. Planting and greening of the buffer zone surrounding the station is currently under way.
