This operation includes a framework loan to co-finance selected multi-sector urban schemes included in the multi-annual investment plan of the Athens Municipality for 2017-2020. These include urban rehabilitation, sustainable mobility, waste management, economy and tourism, social infrastructure, information technology and services, energy upgrades, culture, public spaces and public buildings, among other sectors. The loan will support the Municipality in the implementation of the Athens Resilience Strategy for 2030. The schemes are in line with the Sustainable Development Strategy for 2016-2020 and most of them are expected to form part of the Integrated Territorial Investment Plan of Athens Municipality to be co-financed by EU Funds. Objectives The project will contribute to urban renewal and transformation by meeting the challenges of the financial crisis and the demographic changes, including also the impact from the refugee crisis. The project will bring about a significant improvement in the quality of life for the citizens of Athens and support the municipalitys strategy for growth |
