Agri VIE II is a development capital fund dedicated to the agribusiness sector in Sub-Saharan Africa and will target controlling interests by positioning itself as the leading institutional investor in the capital of small-scale companies. Support for the fund will be based on two pillars: (i) the development of a local production tool to replace imports of processed products, and (ii) the structuring of vertically integrated regional actors. The targeted geographical scope includes Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, Mozambique, Zambia, Rwanda and South Africa. IMPACT OF THE PROJECT The project will have many socio-economic effects, particularly in terms of jobs and support from the private sector. Agri VIE has demonstrable and verifiable experience on the first fund to report: (i) 8,500 direct jobs supported, 73% full-time and 27% seasonal, (ii) 8,600 small indirectly supported farmers, (iii) 2,100 VSE / SMEs indirectly supported, (iv) over US $ 20 million of tax revenue paid to States by companies invested since the funds investment. |
