Project Notice

PNR 140
Project Name BIHAR NEW GANGA BRIDGE PROJECT
Project Detail The Bihar State Road Development Corporation Ltd. is constructing a greenfield six-lane extra dosed cable bridge over river Ganga near Kachchi Dargah in district Patna on NH-30 to near Bidupur in District Vaishali on NH-103.

The Rs. 50-billion project is likely to be completed in four years. The bridge will be Asia’s longest bridge (9.76 km). The entire length of the bridge, including approach roads from either side, is expected to be 22.7 km. The state has taken a Rs. 30-billion loan from the ADB for the project. The state government has already allotted the rest of the amount.

The upcoming bridge will be a great respite for the commuters going towards north Bihar from Patna. At present, they have to take the ever-congested Gandhi Setu, which is under repair for more than three decades now. The Setu is right now only operational bridge over river Ganga in the state, therefore considered as a lifeline for Bihar.
