Offshore wind converter platform due to be installed in the German North Sea TenneT has announced that the offshore DolWin Epsilon platform is getting ready to sail into the North Sea. After three years of construction at the Seatrium shipyard in Singapore, the converter platform covered approximately 13,000 nautical miles to Norway in 60 days. There, it received its final technical equipment at the Aibel shipyard over the past 1.5 years. Preparations are now underway to transport the platform and install it in the North Sea, where it will convert the green electricity from a offshore wind farm as part of the DolWin5 offshore grid connection, allowing it to reach the mainland via submarine cables. From there, it is transported to consumers via the onshore transmission grid. |
