The Neuquén provincial government has officially awarded the contract for paving Provincial Route No. 63, the section that connects the junction with National Route No. 40 to Villa Meliquina. CN Sapag will be responsible for executing the work, after submitting a bid of $29.391 billion, below the official budget of $32.337 billion. The project includes 19 kilometers of paving in one of the most scenic areas of the Neuquén mountain range. The contract was awarded following a bidding process promoted by the Provincial Unit for Liaison and Execution of Externally Funded Projects (UPEFE), with the goal of consolidating road connectivity in the southern part of the province. The contract will be signed and the corresponding documentation submitted in the coming days. Work will begin once the weather ban, currently in effect due to the regions winter conditions, is lifted. The section to be developed crosses a highly environmentally sensitive natural environment, comprised of native forests and unique panoramic views that are part of the renowned Seven Lakes tourist circuit. It is also a key corridor for domestic tourism and for logistical connections with towns such as San Martín de los Andes and Junín de los Andes. This project is part of an ambitious road plan that projects the paving of 600 kilometers of provincial routes during the current administration. The goal is to significantly increase the paved network, which currently totals 1,120 kilometers throughout Neuquéns road network. Notable projects include the paving of Provincial Route 65 in Villa Traful, the 6 km of Route 62 toward Lago Lolog, and the remaining 12 km of Route 60 to the Mamuil Malal International Pass. The paving of Route 63 will improve road safety, optimize access to tourist destinations, and facilitate regional integration.
