The city of Neuquén continues to expand one of its most iconic public spaces: the Coastal Promenade along the Neuquén River. Currently, the project is in its final stages between Piglia and El Chocón streets, near the Independiente football club, where a coastal defense system is 90% complete. This project is part of a joint project between the Neuquén Municipality and the provincial government. Additional work will begin in the coming days, including the construction of curbs, sidewalks, lighting bases, and a vehicular lane. This stretch covers 1,800 linear meters and will include viewing platforms, rest areas, and a green park. These works will take an estimated 120 days to complete. At the same time, municipal authorities announced that a public bidding process for a new phase of the Coastal Promenade will be launched within the next 30 days. This expansion will be built between El Chocón and Aguado streets, adding an additional 3,500 linear meters to the project. This extension doubles the length of the current stretch and will allow for continued restoration and enhancement of the urban waterfront. The development of this infrastructure not only improves the quality of public spaces but also strengthens the citys connection to the river, creating new opportunities for recreation, tourism, and physical activity. The addition of lighting, sidewalks, and vehicle access is intended to ensure safe and accessible traffic for all residents. Additionally, improvements are being made to the Hiroki Peninsula, a protected natural area of ??growing recreational interest. Vehicle access is being built there, along with a new parking lot in front of the entrance gate, and internal infrastructure works will be completed within 45 days, according to the Neuquén Coordination and Infrastructure Secretariat. With these interventions, the Coastal Promenade consolidates its role as a strategic hub for urban planning and sustainable development, promoting landscape integration and the responsible use of the banks of the Neuquén River.
