Work Detail In the first four months of 2025, Brazil reached 3.47 million micro and mini distributed generation systems connected to the distribution grid, bringing the installed capacity to nearly 39.22 GW. São Paulo stood out among the states with 46,000 plants in operation, totaling 405 MW. According to data from the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), from January to April 2025, more than 258,000 consumers began using distributed micro and mini generation (MMGD) systems in the country, resulting in a power increase of 2.86 GW. The systems installed in the first four months of 2025 began generating credits for 393,000 properties—including homes, businesses, farms, and others. With MMGD, consumers generate electricity from renewable sources or qualified cogeneration and inject unused energy into the distribution grid, receiving credits to use during off-peak hours through the Electric Energy Compensation System (SCEE). In April, more than 50,000 MMGD plants were installed, totaling a capacity of 524.50. During the month, 50,655 solar photovoltaic plants and one biogas-fired thermoelectric plant, located in Inhumas, GO, came online. São Paulo was the state that stood out from January to April, both in terms of the number of installed systems and capacity: 46,000 plants came online, totaling 405 MW. Minas Gerais was the second state in terms of MMGD capacity expansion during the same period, with 270 MW and 24,000 new installations, followed by Mato Grosso, with 262 MW and 19,000 installations. The MMGD capacity in Brazil is 39.2 GW According to Annel, as of April 30, Brazil had 3.47 million systems connected to the electricity distribution grid, totaling an installed capacity of nearly 39.22 GW. Residential consumers represent approximately 80% of the plants in operation (2.8 million), commerce represents 10% of the plants (346.93 thousand) and the rural class represents 8.59% of the plants in operation (298.24 thousand).
