ZF Wind Power has officially inaugurated India’s largest test rig for wind turbine gearboxes and powertrains at its facility in Coimbatore. The new rig boasts a capacity of 13.2 MW, marking a significant addition to the countrys wind energy testing infrastructure. The newly commissioned facility is equipped for advanced testing, capable of performing dynamic load simulations and real-time torque reversal cycles. These features are crucial for the rigorous validation of next-generation gearbox technology. The test rig offers extreme validation capabilities, supporting testing up to 20 MNm (Mega Newton-meters), which will aid in the development of highly robust and efficient systems required for modern wind turbines. According to a company statement, the test rig has been designed with an eye towards both current and future testing demands. ZF Wind Power anticipates that this advanced facility will play a key role in significantly enhancing product development cycles and reducing lead times for their wind power solutions. |
