Reliance Power Limited announced today the signing of a commercial term sheet for a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Green Digital Private Limited (GDL), an entity owned by the Royal Government of Bhutan’s Druk Holding and Investments Limited. The agreement paves the way for a joint venture to develop Bhutan’s largest solar project. The project is planned under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model and is expected to involve a capital outlay of up to ?2,000 crore. According to an official statement from the company, this investment represents the largest private sector foreign direct investment (FDI) to date in Bhutan’s burgeoning solar energy sector. The collaboration signifies a significant step in boosting renewable energy capacity in the Himalayan kingdom. |
