On the final day of Intersolar Europe 2025, LONGi, a global leader in solar technology, announced that it has surpassed 10 gigawatts (GW) of back contact (BC) solar modules deployed across Europe. This achievement highlights Europe’s growing leadership in the adoption of high-efficiency solar solutions. Backed by a strong 20GW order pipeline, LONGi’s success in the region reflects the increasing preference for BC technology in utility-scale, commercial, and industrial solar projects. LONGi’s Hi-MO 9 module has played a central role in this progress since its introduction to the European market. Offering a high module efficiency of 24.8% and power output of up to 670 watts, Hi-MO 9 has delivered strong performance across diverse European climates—from the sunny Mediterranean regions to the more variable conditions in Northern Europe. As a result, the module has helped to drive greater energy yields and has supported the continent’s broader renewable energy goals. In 2024, LONGi shipped a total of 17GW of BC modules worldwide, including 4.32GW delivered in the first quarter of 2025 alone. The company’s deployment milestone in Europe is part of this global growth, with over 40 GW of BC orders now reserved worldwide. The strong interest in Hi-MO 9 is driven by its ability to outperform older technologies by delivering 8–10% higher energy yields, while also requiring less land—an important factor for countries seeking to balance land use and environmental sustainability. LONGi has also signed new strategic agreements in Southern Europe, which include more than 580 MW of Hi-MO 9 modules set to be deployed across several large-scale solar projects. The module’s advanced back contact design, which removes front-grid shading, allows for greater light absorption and contributes to improved performance in real-world conditions. The Hi-MO 9 is designed with future compatibility in mind, ensuring it can integrate with modern energy systems including hybrid installations and smart grids. It also offers a 30-year linear power warranty and a strong temperature coefficient of -0.29%/°C, providing greater reliability and confidence for developers and investors. At Intersolar Europe 2025, LONGi showcased how its Hi-MO 9 modules are helping to address two of the region’s key challenges—modernizing energy grids and making efficient use of available land. With a 20 GW order reserve in place, LONGi Europe is scaling up its production and logistics capabilities to meet rising demand, ensuring timely delivery of modules for projects across various regions, from solar farms in Iberia to industrial sites in Eastern Europe. |
