Work Detail TCL Solar has announced a strategic partnership with Grid Africa to deploy 100 megawatts (MW) of distributed solar and battery storage solutions in Zimbabwe and Zambia. The collaboration is aimed at accelerating access to reliable and sustainable energy across the two countries, supporting regional energy security and economic growth. Grid Africa, a pan-African distributed energy developer, is known for supplying dependable power to critical infrastructure segments including data centres, telecommunications networks, and commercial and industrial (C&I) consumers. The company focuses on delivering scalable renewable energy projects that align with Africa’s development priorities. As part of the agreement, TCL Solar will play a key role in supporting the deployment of the planned solar and storage capacity, with an emphasis on streamlined supply chain coordination and efficient project execution. Zimbabwe and Zambia have been identified as promising markets for distributed renewable energy due to their relatively strong transmission and distribution networks. In recent years, both countries have introduced regulatory reforms aimed at improving grid accessibility and removing policy barriers—creating a conducive environment for the expansion of decentralized energy systems. The partnership is expected to significantly contribute to meeting the growing energy demands of key sectors while promoting clean energy adoption in Southern Africa.
