Work Detail Wind Multiplikator, Buss Energy Group triumph in Europe-wide tender process for 400MW German offshore wind farm Global Tech I has awarded two long-term service contracts for turbines at its 400MW offshore wind farm in Germany following a Europe-wide tender process. The contract for servicing and maintenance of the 80 Areva M5000 turbines was awarded to Wind Multiplikator, while Buss Energy Group won the contract for rotor blade repair and restoration. The turbine maintenance contract with Wind Multiplikator marks the first time an independent service provider will take on this role. Previously, maintenance was carried out by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. Wind Multiplikator already has experience in Areva technology and services a large fleet of turbines of this type. Both the Wind Multiplikator and Buss Energy Group contracts will commence on 1 January 2026 and are set for a 10-year duration, following on from the wind farm’s first decade of operation. Commercial managing director of Global Tech I Offshore Wind David Baureis said: “With this decision, we are setting the course for the safe and reliable operation of our turbines for the coming decade. “Both partners prevailed in an intensive and structured tender process against strong competition.” The company added that from a technical perspective, the decision also sends a strong signal for long-term quality and reliability. Technical managing director Felix Prechtel added: “With Wind Multiplikator and Buss Energy Group, we have found two experienced and dependable partners who fully meet our requirements for quality, innovation, and safety standards. “We look forward to collaborating in a long-term partnership.” The tender process began in February 2024 with a Europe-wide announcement. Following a successful pre-qualification phase with numerous applicants, several bidding rounds were conducted. Final decisions were based on the so-called Best and Final Offers (BAFO), assessed against defined technical, economic, and qualitative criteria. The Global Tech I offshore wind farm began operations in 2015 and is located approximately 140km north of Emden in the German North Sea. With a capacity of 400MW, it supplies the equivalent of around 445,000 households with renewable electricity.
