Council to hold Meet the Buyer event for anyone interested in working on Quanterness and Faray projects A Meet the Buyer event is due to take place in Orkney later this month for contractors with an interest in opportunities arising from the Quanterness six-turbine wind farm and a similar proposed project in Faray. Elected members of Orkney Islands Council agreed in February 2025 to go ahead with the project at Quanterness and will make a final decision on the Faray wind farm in 2027. The wind farm projects each have a capacity of 28.8MW. The council is currently tendering for a Balance of Plant (BOP) contract for the Quanterness project and will be tendering for an Early Contractor Interest (ECI) contract in due course. The BOP contract includes final design, building of civils and electrical works in advance of the wind turbine generator installation. The Meet the Buyer event is primarily aimed at those interested in tendering for the BOP as well as providing a networking and information opportunity for those who might be interested in sub-contracting opportunities with a main contractor in the future. It will also provide an opportunity to find out more about forthcoming opportunities related to the proposed project in Faray. The event takes place on 21 May 2025 at the Pickaquoy Centre in Kirkwall and runs from 10.30am to 2pm. To register, email ocwfprocurement@orkney.gov.uk by 12 May, providing details of all proposed attendees. |
