Work Detail The Mendoza government announced a call for bids to execute the second phase of the Los Barrancos drinking water supply system, a critical project to guarantee water supply in the department of Godoy Cruz. The project will have an official investment of $2,499,471,163.50, financed with funds obtained by the province through compensation from the Industrial Promotion Agency. The project aims to optimize the operational efficiency of the water system, responding to the growing demand for drinking water in a densely populated department strategically located within Greater Mendoza. This second phase is part of a larger water planning program designed to ensure the sustainability of the resource in the medium and long term. The Undersecretariat of Infrastructure and Territorial Development emphasized that this intervention is part of a provincial policy aimed at strengthening key sectors such as water, sanitation, energy, and road connectivity, with an emphasis on Mendozas productive oases. These projects aim to improve the quality of life, guarantee access to essential services, and sustain productive development, remarked Undersecretary Marité Badui. The Los Barrancos system is vital for strengthening the distribution network in Godoy Cruz, especially in areas where urban growth has put pressure on installed capacity. While the specific technical aspects of this second phase have not yet been detailed, it is expected to include new cisterns, pumping stations, and network expansion, in line with the phases already implemented. This tender joins six other projects already awarded by the province under the same infrastructure plan: among them, the Tirasso sewage collector in Guaymallén, the expansion of the wastewater treatment plant in General Alvear, and the repaving of provincial roads in the departments of San Rafael, Santa Rosa, and General Alvear. With this initiative, the Mendoza government reaffirms its commitment to balanced territorial development, prioritizing investments that integrate basic and productive infrastructure, essential for improving the quality of life of residents and enhancing the capacities of the provinces main urban centers.
