iAccess Energy, a leading developer of turnkey photovoltaic (PV) power plants, and Ampt, the top DC optimizer company for large-scale PV systems, have announced a new DC-coupled PV-plus-storage project in Germany. The project uses Ampt technology and iAccess Energy’s innovative solutions to deliver exceptional returns for asset owners. It consists of 7 MWp of ground-mounted PV solar paired with a 4 MW / 8 MWh (2-hour) battery energy storage system (BESS) and a 4.4 MWAC inverter. The project also features SMA inverters, batteries from a top-tier supplier, and Ampt String Optimizers to manage power efficiently. What makes this project unique is its fully integrated, DC-coupled storage solution that utilizes a battery-centric design. This allows for multiple revenue opportunities, including peak-shifting, grid services, and energy trading without relying on subsidies. The use of Ampt String Optimizers, which perform maximum power point tracking (MPPT) on each PV string, ensures the system maximizes energy production and delivers power while following the battery’s voltage as it charges and discharges. Additionally, the design reduces costs by using fewer inverters and transformers, leading to higher efficiency and lower power management costs. By integrating Ampt technology, the system reduces wiring and labor costs while allowing more PV power to be connected to the battery and inverter. This design maximizes profits through time-shifting and energy trading, as it allows batteries to charge while exporting power to the grid. Michael Rieber, CEO of iAccess Energy, said in a statement, “As a long-term investor and operator of the power plants we develop, iAccess is focused on delivering the highest value to our customers. We chose Ampt because their technology truly enables the best solution and is backed by a highly technical and responsive team.” Juan Romera-Wade, Senior Sales Director at Ampt, mentioned, “iAccess merges its experience as a developer and owner with exceptional engineering and financial expertise to achieve a best-in-class solution. The innovative project announced today is the first of many that we look forward to working on with the iAccess team.” iAccess Energy is now developing over 40 projects using this innovative DC-coupled PV-plus-storage solution, making it available to landowners, renewable investors, and asset owners. Both companies will be showcasing this solution at Intersolar Europe in Munich from May 7-9. To schedule a meeting, visit Ampt at booth C5.151. |
