Steel structure will be installed on jacket positioned around 50km off the Dutch coast Equans and Smulders have toasted the successful load-out of the substation topside for the Hollandse Kust West Beta offshore wind farm. The steel structure (pictured), weighing over 4200 tonnes, was placed onto a floating pontoon at Equans’ yard in Hoboken, Belgium. The offshore substation topside is now nearly ready to set sail to its final location. Later this month, the topside will be installed onto the jacket structure already positioned more than 50km off the coast of Egmond aan Zee in the Netherlands. Hollandse Kust West Beta is the third and final offshore substation Smulders and Equans BeLux have delivered for TenneT. These platforms form part of the Dutch government’s goal to meet 40% of the country’s electricity demand with offshore wind. An Equans spokesperson said: “As the third and final substation built for our client TenneT, this milestone marks the completion of a remarkable series of projects, delivered in joint venture with Smulders. “A big thank you to everyone involved in making this complex operation a success – teamwork and dedication at its finest!” |
