Following negotiations with the national government, work has resumed on the construction of the highway on National Route 9/34, in the section between Rosario de la Frontera and the bridge over the Yatasto River in Salta. The project, more than 26 kilometers long, is considered strategic for connectivity and road safety in the southern part of the province. The project includes the duplication of the roadway, with full access control, and a complete redesign of the existing route. It includes the addition of collector roads, the geometric and structural redesign of the current route, the construction of new intersections, major and minor artwork, paving, signage, and lighting. The total investment amounts to 85 billion pesos, with a 36-month execution period. Currently, work is focused on the eastern section of the route, with earthworks at the 10,000-kilometer marker (between kilometers 10 and 12) as part of the ground preparation process for the future additional roadway, which will run southbound (Salta–Rosario de la Frontera). In parallel, topographical work, relocation of fiber optic cables, and land expropriation procedures are being carried out. The head of the Salta District of the National Highway Administration described this project as the most important investment made by a national government in the province and highlighted its potential to transform the areas productive infrastructure, facilitating freight transport and improving traffic flow in a key corridor in the Northwest. The project is being carried out by a contracted company whose name was not released in the official statement, but which has already installed its workshop and machinery on site. Authorities emphasized that this infrastructure will benefit road safety and regional connectivity, while generating employment and economic activity in the area. |
