The North Eastern Railway (NER) Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) has granted its approval for the newly installed electronic interlocking system at Gorakhpur Junction station, along with the recently constructed third railway line connecting Gorakhpur Junction and Gorakhpur Cantt stations. This development is poised to significantly enhance passenger amenities and streamline operational efficiency in the region. The NERs Lucknow Division spearheaded the completion of the 3.5-kilometer-long, 25,000-volt AC electrified third rail line between the two key Gorakhpur stations. This infrastructure upgrade is a crucial step towards modernizing the railway network in the area. CRS Pranjeev Saxena, accompanied by key railway officials including Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) Abhay Kumar Gupta, Chief Electrical Engineer (Construction) OP Singh, DRM Gaurav Agarwal, and other additional railway authorities, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the completed works at both Gorakhpur Junction and Gorakhpur Cantt. At Gorakhpur Junction, the CRS meticulously examined the advanced AI-enabled electronic interlocking panel, the station superintendents office, crucial safety records, the yard layout, established station protocols, and the integrated power supply and battery backup systems. Following this, a detailed safety assessment of critical infrastructure elements such as points, crossings, curves, and bridges along the Gorakhpur Junction-Gorakhpur Cantt route was carried out using a motor trolley. The inspection at Gorakhpur Cantt station involved a thorough evaluation of the signalling systems, ballast conditions, platform clearance, the electronic interlocking system, battery installations, the relay room, and the overall safety preparedness of the staff. The CRS also assessed the railway personnels understanding and adherence to safety procedures essential for train operations. The inspection process culminated in a successful high-speed trial run on the newly electrified third rail line, utilizing a special train to validate its operational readiness. This approval from the CRS marks a significant step forward in enhancing the railway infrastructure and services in Gorakhpur. |
