Tonking New Energy (TK New Energy) successfully hosted the TK Solar Technical Workshop in Kuala Lumpur, a key milestone in its mission to advance Southeast Asia’s clean energy transition. The half-day workshop highlighted the company’s innovative floating solar solutions while fostering strategic dialogue among industry leaders, government representatives, EPC contractors, consultants, and renewable energy developers. Strategic Insights from Industry Experts The workshop opened with a keynote presentation by Mr. Baldesh Singh, Senior Consultant at S&P Global, who provided a comprehensive market outlook on Malaysia’s floating PV (FPV) potential. He emphasized the nation’s significant capacity estimated at 17 GW with over 2,944 km² of usable water surfaces across reservoirs and hydro dams. With Malaysia targeting 31% renewable energy by 2025 and aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050, floating solar emerges as a highly viable solution for maximizing underutilized water resources and accelerating decarbonization. TK Floating Solar Solutions: Engineering Innovation on Water TK has unveiled the 5th Generation Amphibious Mounting System, featuring: · Never-sink EPS foam floaters encased in corrosion-resistant stainless steel or ZAM materials. · Herringbone quadruple layout allowing up to 10% higher installation capacity than conventional layout. · Streamlined installation process with modular design and assembly methods. · Low-maintenance infrastructure, including integrated cable management and accessible walkways. · Proven adaptability to various geotechnical and environmental conditions ideal for regions with limited or unstable land resources. Backed by international certifications and successful deployments across Asia, TK New Energy’s FPV solutions underscore its commitment to sustainable, high-quality solar technologies. Policy Momentum & Regional Collaboration A dynamic panel discussion brought together key voices in the renewable energy sector to address Malaysia’s FPV development challenges and opportunities. The session offered valuable perspectives on policy directions, technical advancements, and cross-border collaboration essential for scaling FPV adoption in the region from local developers, investors, and EPCs. Building a Platform for Innovation and Collaboration More than a technical seminar, the TK Solar Technical Workshop served as a collaborative platform to shape the future of floating solar in Southeast Asia. TK New Energy remains committed to advancing scalable, reliable solar technologies and supporting the region’s transition toward a greener energy landscape. As Mr. Mervyn Zhu, Managing Director of International Business Center, noted during his closing remarks: “The road to energy transition requires not only advanced technology but also collaboration. This workshop is a strong signal of what’s possible when the industry comes together.” |
