BlueWave, a prominent solar energy developer, owner, and operator in the Northeastern United States, has released its 2024 Impact Report, outlining a year of progress in project development, operations, construction, and corporate social responsibility. The company continues to advance its mission of expanding access to renewable energy and protecting the planet through responsible solar development. In 2024, BlueWave developed a total of 12 solar projects across Massachusetts, Maine, and New York, collectively generating 46 megawatts of direct current (MWDC). These projects are expected to prevent 42,237 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions from being released into the atmosphere each year, delivering a measurable environmental benefit from their first year of operation. Several of these installations also contribute to local communities by providing utility bill savings through community solar programs. BlueWave’s role as an owner-operator ensures that it remains involved throughout each stage of a project’s life cycle. The company completed construction on four projects during the year, maintaining its standards for quality and environmental responsibility by acting as the owner-builder. Eight of the projects became operational during the year in Massachusetts and Maine, with support from state-level initiatives such as the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) program and Net Energy Billing (NEB) programs. These policies enabled the integration of agrivoltaics, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and community solar across various sites. BlueWave has also laid the groundwork for continued growth by securing locations for future solar and storage developments in 13 states. Its current development pipeline includes 746 MWDC of solar and 2,876 MWAC of standalone storage, reflecting its ongoing investment in the expansion of clean energy infrastructure. Mike Marsch, Chief Development Officer at BlueWave, said in a statement, “Everything we do at BlueWave is driven by a deep commitment to our mission—and 2024 was no exception. From project development to community engagement, we made meaningful progress toward building a cleaner, more resilient energy future for everyone. Our impact goes beyond megawatts. In every project and partnership, we’re focused on creating value for the communities we serve and setting a new standard for responsible clean energy development.” The company has also prioritized industry collaboration and leadership. In 2024, BlueWave co-founded the Solar and Farming Association (SAFA), a national organization promoting the use of agrivoltaics—integrating solar generation with active crop and livestock farming. In its first year, SAFA focused on advocating for the inclusion of a federal definition of agrivoltaics in the U.S. Farm Bill, a step aimed at increasing funding opportunities and simplifying permitting processes for agricultural solar projects. Beyond its technical and industry achievements, BlueWave continues to emphasize social impact and community engagement. The company contributed $30,000 in donations to local and national organizations nominated by its employees. Staff also volunteered over 300 hours on service initiatives, including environmental cleanups and support work in shelters, gardens, and community centers. BlueWave’s efforts in 2024 reflect its holistic approach to renewable energy—developing innovative, community-focused solar solutions while promoting environmental sustainability and industry progress. Through both infrastructure and social engagement, BlueWave is helping to shape a more inclusive and sustainable energy future. |
