The Expert Appraisal Committee (Non-Coal Mining Sector) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, has granted Environmental Clearance for the Gold Ore Processing Plant component of the Jonnagiri Gold Project, owned by Geomysore Services (India) Pvt Ltd, an associate company of Deccan Gold Mines Limited. The decision was made during the EACs meeting on March 25, 2025, and the minutes were made available on the Ministry’s portal on April 18, 2025. As part of the clearance process, a successful public consultation was held on February 18, 2025, at Jonnagiri in Andhra Pradesh. Following the consultation, the project proposal was reviewed by the EAC, leading to the environmental clearance. With this approval, Geomysore will now move forward with obtaining the Consent for Operations from the Government of Andhra Pradesh, which will allow gold production to begin at the Jonnagiri site. Dr. Hanuma Prasad Modali, Managing Director of Geomysore, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their support, calling the clearance a key milestone in the journey towards commissioning the Jonnagiri Gold Project. He added, “This project will be India’s first-ever private sector gold mine, and we will continue to keep our shareholders informed about future developments.” |
